Autumn Harvest

With the wonderful winter snow and rich spring rains, our trees did the best ever. Our two little trees gave us twenty-four quarts of wonderful fruit, in addition to a lot of other fresh treats.
We also put up lots of tomatoes. We were still picking tomatoes in mid-October. The garden gave up lot of peppers, peas, corn, beans, squash, and cucumbers.

Hyrum Perkins Birthday

We enjoyed celebrating Hyrum's sixth birthday with family members in West Jordan on September 11th

Elk Ridge in the Autumn

We knew that we couldn't face another winter without a final trip to the mountain. So, in mid-September we took Krystal and Edward for a Saturday picnic ride on the Elk Ridge in our new Rav4.

Blue Mountain Scout Camp 2010

We had the opportunity to be on staff for the Blue Mountain Scout camp the middle of June.
Don has been staffing for over 10 years. This was Becky's second year. Don is camp chaplain and conducts morning devotionals every morning. These short meetings help everyone get the day off to a great start. Becky is a camp commissioner who oversees 10-12 troops and helps in any other way needed.

Nephew Brady has been on staff for 5 years. He has matured and become a leader (music and otherwise) at camp. This year Brady's dad, John was able to be on staff. He worked hard and was a great addition. It was great having my brother there with us. He says he will be back next year. Brady will be serving a mission in Mexico.

Little Bunny Fru-Fru had a comeback this year at the Friday closing campfire. Edward says that he had toned things down a touch this year.

Beginning of a busy Summer

Our granddaughter Marissa got to come home to our house for a week after Memorial Day. We spent some time at Grandma and Grandpa Popes. Marissa and I swam and played their organ while Don had Scout meetings.

We picked up Megan and Liz as we took Marissa home and then stayed in Idaho to tend Katie's kids while they went on trek to Martin's Cove. We took a little picnic trip with the kids to Swan Valley. These pictures are taken by a rest stop. You can see the Snake River in the background. It was cold in Idaho but beautiful.

We welcomed home the trekkers with white handkerchiefs at the stake center. Katie, Curtis, and Madi had a memoriable time and so did we.

Memorial Day Picnic

After visiting the cemeteries, we went to Hyrum for lunch. Traditionally Jon and Sally host a big picnic for family and friends. Close to 50 people came this year. The children of RV Larson and Helen Larson had a picture taken with everyone there. It may be a few years before this can happen again. We are grateful that Jon is well enough to host this event after a huge health scare last year. He still has some lingering numbness in his legs and a little in his hands but he cooked hamburgers all afternoon. Maren brought the big water slide. (Maria's Reese is seen beginning his descent. It was a hit with the kids even though the temperature was a little cool. It was very good for us to be together.

Memorial Day Weekend 2010

We drove to Provo on Saturday. We visited the Pope and Knudsen graves in the Provo Cemetery. Then we went up to the Eastlawn Memorial Cemetery and visited the Baxter graves. It was important to remember grandparents and their lives. It was also enjoyable to spend time with my parents. We appreciate being able to stay in their home. That evening we helped Michael tend Ryan while Carly worked. It was wonderful to spend time with them. Ryan is a joy.
On Sunday, we drove up to Tori's church and attended Sacrament Meeting with the Bradfords. It was a short visit but good. We spent a little time at Amelia's too. It is always not long enough. It was wonderful to have hugs from our grandchildren. They are all growing up so fast.

We spent the night in Logan and then visited cemeteries in Logan and Smithfield. The Peterson's are buried in Logan. We also visited the grave of a fellow grad student of Dad's from Iran. When we got to Smithfield, we ran into Dad's cousin Greg and his family. It was there that we met up with other Larsons: Megan's family, Katie's family, Carl & Margaret, Reed & Amanda, Maren's family, Ann & Peter. Then we went to the picnic at Jon and Sally's house in Hyrum.
