St. Patrick's Day trip

On Wednesday we drove down to Farmington, New Mexico by way of Shiprock. It was good to see the earth waking up for Spring. We ate lunch at Golden Corral in Farmington. (Megan- Gummy Bears on ice cream are cool.)

Then we drove a little further to Aztec, New Mexico. We spent a few hours at the Aztec Ruins National Monument. It is an ancient Indian Pueblo. We were amazed at the size of the rebuilt great kiva. They have stuccoed the walls and rebuilt the ceiling to make it look like it used to.

After touring the ruins, we drove up to Durango, Colorado. The drive up the Animas River canyon was beautiful. We had to stop at Walmart of course. We even ran into someone from Blanding there-of course. Then we drove on home in time to have Corned Beef and Cabbage (Happy St. Patrick's Day) which I had prepared the night before. It was a great day trip to help say that we went somewhere for spring break.

Gummy bear world! I used to fill my plate with those on band trips. I saved a handful for the trip home, and a few fell to the ground next to an ant hill. Unfortunately for the ants, it was a hot day and when they climbed on top of the gummy bear, it was like the La Brea Tar Pits all over again. (In miniature)
